Frequently Asked Questions - About The Skillets

Will my Skillet be pre-seasoned?
Yes! Each skillet will come with nice seasoning base, so your pan will be ready to rock and roll right out of the box.

What do you use for seasoning?
We use organic flaxseed oil to prepare our cookware for your first use and also to protect the new cast iron from rusting. We use the proven traditional method of applying the oil and spreading evenly before heating in a commercial oven.

Can I get an unseasoned pan?
Yes, But please understand the raw iron skillet may rust during shipping. Simply let us know in your order that you would like your skillet unseasoned.

Can I put my Skillet in the oven?
Absolutely! Our skillets are made with all high quality metal parts so they can withstand high temperatures. Cast Iron is so versatile you can bake & roast in your skillet to your hearts (and stomach’s) content.

Can I use your skillet on a glass top cooking surface?
Yes! You can use your Skillet on any cooktop. However, if you have an induction or glass-top electric range, you should be careful to handle the pan with care–no dropping, slamming, sliding or heavy scraping.

Do you have international shipping?
Yes! If you can receive packages from USPS and UPS, we can deliver to you. Please note that import duties and taxes are NOT included.

How do I restore my cast iron cookware?
Sometimes bad things happen to good cast iron cookware. First, scrub the inside of your cookware with steel wool. Dry your cookware immediately after washing it. Lightly coat the inside and outside with the cooking oil of your choice and bake it in the oven at 400º for an hour. If you don’t still see the desired results, feel free to send us an email at: info@legacycastiron.com

Why is the color of your new cookware more dark bronze than the black color I see in some other manufacturers?
We pre-season our cookware in the traditional manner applying organic flaxseed and spreading evenly before heating in a standard cooking oven. With use, the color will get darker and darker.
